Google has announced at this year’s CES its upcoming AI capabilities for Google TV. Alphabet Inc.’s consumer team confirmed its streaming software is getting a Gemini integration.
Artificial Intelligence Integration-:
At the CES technology conference on Monday, the company previewed upgraded Google TV software. The updated software adds more natural voice commands, improved content search and deeper YouTube integration.
The update marks the first time Google is bringing Gemini to third-party television sets running its OS, such as those from Sony Group Corp. The firm’s TV platform competes with many other major television operating systems. Some of the systems include those from Samsung Electronics Co., Amazon.com Inc., and Roku Inc.
Google TV Features-:
The Gemini integration in Google TV will allow users to interact with their television using natural language. Users will now also be able to ask questions on various topics.
The Gemini-powered Google TV will offer features like generating customized artwork, controlling smart home devices through the TV interface, and providing a summary of daily news
Additionally, this will simplify content discovery, allowing for searches using conversational queries. These enhancements aim to provide a more intuitive and helpful user experience.
Google also gave an early preview of a new “always-on” mode for a slate of TVs. These TVs use sensors to determine if a user is approaching and show them information they may find useful.
Google TV Competition-:
Alphabet Inc. isn’t alone in bringing AI to TVs. LG and Samsung announced that they’re getting in on the AI hype by bringing Microsoft’s Copilot assistant to their TVs.
The system, for instance, could show someone customized news, weather forecasts, and other items when they are in the vicinity of their TV. TCL in late 2025 will be the first manufacturer to offer this always-on mode, followed by Hisense in 2026.
