The highly-anticipated smartphone from Google – the Pixel 8a – is expected to be unveiled at this year’s Google I/O developer conference to be held on May 14. If you go by Google’s pattern, it typically unveils its new Pixel A-series devices at its annual I/O developer conference. Therefore, the probability of the Pixel 8a’s arrival is quite high.
Ahead of the potential launch of the smartphone, leaks have started surfacing online. It was initially rumoured that the Google Pixel 8a would be offered in four colour options: Green, Blue, Ceramic and Black. And now new leaks hint that the pricing of the device will be below Rs 50,000 in India.
Leaked Specifications Of Google Pixel 8a
The Google Pixel 8a will be more powerful, technologically advanced and feature-rich as compared to its predecessor, the Pixel 7a. According to rumours, the Pixel 8a will feature a smooth 6.1-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and up to 1,400 nits of peak brightness. This will be a big update as compared to the Pixel 7a, which featured a 90Hz screen.
Furthermore, the Pixel 8a is rumoured to run on the Tensor G3 chipset found on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. However, a minor difference in the type of chip is expected. The regular G3 chip comes with FOPLP (Fan-Out Panel Level Packaging), while the Pixel 8a’s G3 chip is expected to have IPoP (Integrated Package on Package) technology.

According to WinFuture, the upcoming smartphone might be offered in four colour options: “Mint” (light green), “Bay” (light blue), “Porcelain” (beige), and “Obsidian” (black). However, all colours might not be offered for both versions of the Google Pixel 8a.
Talking about the optics, the Pixel 8a is expected to retain the same camera setup found on its predecessor. It includes a 64MP Sony IMX787 primary lens and a 50MP Sony IMX712 ultra wide-angle shooter. Additionally, the upcoming smartphone could also sport a 13MP Sony712 snapper for selfies and video calls.
AI features
The key selling feature for the pixel 8 series during its launch last year was the artificial intelligence. A report from Android Headlines claims that the Pixel 8a will include some of the same AI features including Night Sight and Best Take, Call Assist and Circle to Search, and Audio Magic Eraser. It cited leaged Google promotional material for these details.
Google Pixel 8a: Expected price
WinFuture revealed in a latest report that Google Pixel 8a could come with two memory options and a wide colour palette. As per the information from German retailers, the starting price of the device could be more than 550 euros (roughly Rs 50,000). If it turns out to be true, it will be a significant raise from the Pixel 7a, which is priced at 499 euros (roughly Rs 45,000).
