A significant revelation has emerged regarding Facebook, raising concerns among its users. Court documents uncovered in an ongoing investigation reveal that Facebook granted access to users’ private messages to the popular video streaming platform Netflix in exchange for data.

This revelation has startled users once again, as Facebook, known for its massive user base worldwide, has faced accusations of data breaches in the past. According to reports, Facebook’s Barter Data Exchange has been at the center of this investigation, shedding light on the platform’s sharing of private messages with third-party apps.

The court documents suggest that Facebook facilitated this data exchange with Netflix, particularly amid Meta’s decision to discontinue its streaming business. Previously, Meta had offered original shows like Red Table Talk on its Facebook Watch platform.
The lawsuit against Meta alleges that the decision to cease its streaming service was influenced by advertising partner Netflix, accusing Meta of anti-competitive practices detrimental to social media users and competition.

Court records indicate a close relationship between Netflix and Facebook, attributed in part to Netflix’s significant advertising investment on the Facebook platform.
