Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he would bring back the employee, Marko Elez, who had resigned after racist social media posts linked to him. Elez was among six engineers chosen by Musk for
Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) task.
Musk wrote on microblogging site X, “He will be brought back. To err is human, to forgive divine.”
First, Musk began a poll on whether Elez should be reinstated or not. Later, he quoted a post of US Vice-President Vance while replying to it where he stated that he would bring him back.
Vance wrote on X, “Here’s my view: I disagree with some of Elez’s posts, but I don’t think stupid social media activity should ruin a kid’s life. We shouldn’t reward journalists who try to destroy people. Ever. So I say bring him back. If he’s a bad dude or a terrible member of the team, fire him for that.”
Around 78% of people favoured bringing back Elez in the poll. Musk asked: “Bring back @DOGE staffer who made inappropriate statements via a now-deleted pseudonym?”

I obviously disagree with some of Elez’s posts, but I don’t think stupid social media activity should ruin a kid’s life.
We shouldn’t reward journalists who try to destroy people. Ever.
So I say bring him back.

Marko Elez is a 25-year-old programmer who already worked with Musk in the past on several AI projects for Space X and X. He was also associated with DOGE. He had resigned after the Wall Street Journal uncovered his archived racist social media posts. He had posted remarks like “ Normalize Indian Hate” while targeting Indian software engineers working in Silicon Valley. He also supported the eugenic immigration policy.
