e-Aadhaar App: In what could bring a huge respite for Aadhaar users, a comprehensive mobile application that will allow individuals to update their necessary personal details such as name, date of birth, mobile number and address is in the works. The app, tentatively named e-Aadhaar, is being developed by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). It aims to offer a user-friendly and hassle-free solution for modifying Aadhaar information through a single, dedicated platform. A government official said that the app could be launched by the end of 2025.
What is e-Aadhaar?
The e-Aadhaar is an all-in-one app, which will soon make it easier to change details like your name, address, or date of birth from the comfort of your home. Most updates can be handled directly on your phone, cutting down trips to enrolment centres.
The app will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) along with Face ID to make Aadhaar services more secure and seamless.
From November, Aadhaar users will only need to visit enrolment centres for biometric checks like fingerprints and iris scans. The e-Aadhaar app is meant to simplify updates, cut down paperwork, reduce fraud risks, and make the whole process faster and more convenient.
UIDAI To Auto-Fetch User Documents
Additionally, UIDAI is also planning to automatically pull user information from verified government sources. This could include birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licences, ration cards under the Public Distribution System (PDS), and MNREGA records. Electricity bills may also be used to make address verification smoother and quicker.
