‘Scam Se Bacho’: Meta in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre has launched ‘Scam Se Bacho’ campaign. This intends to be a national user awareness campaign.

The campaign tackles the surge in scams and cybercrime. This pledges to strengthen cyber safety and combat online fraud. In the event, Secretary of Information and Broadcasting, Sanjay Jaju said, “It is a timely and much-needed step toward safeguarding our citizens from the growing threat of online scams. It reflects a whole-of-government approach towards fostering a culture of digital safety and vigilance.”
Jaju highlighted that India has over 900 million internet users. India has achieved remarkable digital advancement under the Digital India initiative. The country has emerged as a pioneer in UPI transactions globally, he added.
However, Jaju noted that the cyber frauds are rising across the country, with 1.1 million cases reported in 2023.
Cyber Crime: What It Is And How It Will Help?
This initiative aims to combat the growing menace of scams and cyber frauds. “We are building a movement that envisions a safer, more secure, and resilient digital India,” said Jaju.
Calling it a national movement, Jaju emphasised that ‘Scam Se Bacho’ campaign is more than just an awareness drive. He said that the campaign is to empower Indian citizens with the tools and knowledge to protect them from cyber threats. Government’s objective is to foster a culture of digital resilience through safety and vigilance, said Jaju.
“By leveraging Meta’s global expertise, the campaign will empower every Indian to protect themselves from cyber threats, ensuring that our digital progress is matched by robust digital security,” Jaju Concluded.
