OpenAI is in the midst of launching an all-new instant checkout in ChatGPT powered by a new Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP). It’s built in collaboration with Stripe. This means that users will soon be able to buy directly from sellers in the chat, regardless of which ChatGPT tier they are using. As per media reports, the function will only support single-item purchases at first.
But reports have further established that multi-item carts will be supported in the future, as ChatGPT is also planning to bring in more direct sellers to the platform. Once the feature is established, OpenAI will soon be spreading the feature to new regions.

How It Will Work
If you are using prompts to enquire about a specific item and it supports instant checkout, you can simply tap to buy the item and fill in your shipping details and payment details to get the order delivered to you with a single click.
The orders, payments, and handling of your orders will be managed by merchants using their existing systems – ChatGPT will work as a gateway, passing the information between you and the merchant. This service is free for users, but OpenAI extracts a small fee from the merchants.
As per media reports, the ACP is being sourced to let more merchants and developers build integrations. As the name implies, the ACP is an open standard for AI commerce that lets AI agents, people, and businesses work together to complete purchases. OpenAI bills the new feature as powerful and secure. The feature will be unveiled first for the US markets, and then ChatGPT will gradually spread its reach to other regions as well
