OpenAI’s ChatGPT faced a major outage in India and globally, leaving thousands of users frustrated and unable to access the AI. The disruption originated from unexpected demand spikes which might have occurred because users were increasing their usage of AI image and text generation. People on social media platforms posted outrage in the form of complaints and funny images after service interruptions. According to Downdetector, the outage began around 6:30 PM, with approximately 18,000 users reporting issues. 95% of complaints were related to ChatGPT, while DALL·E and Sora accounted for 3% and 2%, respectively.
Many social media users shared memes and posted about it on their social media account.
