A British gamer witnessed a shocking incident while on a live stream, as his online friend was stabbed to death during a late-night gaming session live on camera more than 1,000 miles away, according to a report by The Metro.
According to investigators, the 32-year-old Finnish woman had been playing online games with her friend in the UK for almost ten hours when the man suddenly heard a window smashing at her home in Puumala. The British player asked if his gaming partner’s doors were locked, but soon after, he heard a stranger speaking to her in Finnish.
Unable to intervene from afar, the British gamer emailed the local police around 5 a.m. Authorities later found the woman dead in her living room that same day.
After the stabbing, the attacker apparently drove about 30 miles to Juva, where he set fire to a barn. Witnesses said they saw him walking out of the flames with his arms wide open before collapsing. He was taken to a hospital, as per The Sun, but later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators confirmed that the man was not previously known to police and had no apparent link to the victim. They believe he chose her home arbitrarily simply because the lights were on.
Criminal Inspector Marfa Raipeal, who was leading the case, said the incident is not being treated as an act of terrorism. The investigation has since been closed, as the assailant lost his life.
In a separate incident, French influencer Jean Pormanov died after enduring hours of torture and abuse during a live stream on the platform Kick. Reports said the influencer had a history of willingly choosing physical abuse as a form of content for his live streams.
