Apple has officially launched its newest iPhone 16 series with tons of killer features, including one of the most exciting upgrades any iPhone user could ever ask for: the Camera Control button. Officially launched on September 9, the iPhone 16 brings cutting-edge AI integration through Apple Intelligence. But, hands down, the biggest addition is indeed the Camera Control button, sitting right below the power button on the right side of the device.

More Than a Camera Button
Although opening up the camera application is the premier functionality of the Camera Control button, during the launch event, Apple claimed this is far more capable of doing a lot more. It instantly enables users to capture photos or initiate video recording right away, ensuring that none of those precious moments are ever missed.
Advanced Hardware and Software Integration
As Apple describes, the Camera Control combines thoughtful hardware along with software. On this button, there is:
• Tactile switch for a responsive click experience.
High precision force sensor allowing light press gestures. Capacitive sensor allows for touch-based interactions. Camera Control Functions: How It Works Here is how the Camera Control button works on different scenarios: Single click: Camera app opens One click when inside the app: Photo captured Long press: Video recording starts Double light press: Exposure, depth of field settings, and other advanced options open Sliding gesture: Zoom and filter options open.
This button removes the need to enter menus inside the Camera application for any settings changes by allowing the user to make those changes through touch gestures.

Camera Preview and Real-Time Adjustments
