Users of the recently launched iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have reported concerns about their devices running hotter than usual during use. Apple has swiftly responded to these complaints by releasing the iOS 17.0.3 update, which not only addresses the overheating issue but also includes essential bug fixes and security updates.
The changelog for this update states, “This update provides important bug fixes, security updates, and addresses an issue that may cause iPhone to run warmer than expected.”
Although some users initially attributed the increased temperature to the iPhone’s titanium frame or the new 3nm A17 Pro chip, Apple dismissed these claims. The tech giant instead pointed to a bug within iOS 17 as the potential culprit and also suggested that certain third-party apps like Instagram, Uber, and Asphalt 9 may be contributing to the heating problem on the new iPhones. Apple is actively working with these app developers to resolve the issue.

If the update is available for your device (Apple typically releases updates gradually), it’s advisable to install it promptly. This precautionary step is recommended not only for new iPhone 15 Pro owners but also for those who have experienced overheating issues on older iPhone models. Apple also notes that it’s normal for iPhones to run slightly warmer during the initial days after setup.
