New Delhi: The Apple ‘It’s Glowtime’ event, scheduled to take place on September 9, will witness the introduction of the much anticipated iPhone 16 along with new gen AirPods, Apple Watch and many other products. However, going by the previous pattern, it is expected that the tech giant may discontinue several old products. Here are the 10 Apple products that are most likely to be terminated after the iPhone 16 launch event.
1. iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max
Apple may bid adieu to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which were launched in 2023. This has been a notable pattern since 2018, when the company stopped production of the previous year iPhone flagship to focus on latest models. The iPhone 15 Pro is the first iPhone to come with titanium material and boasts a screen size of 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches.
2. iPhone 14 Plus
After the failures of mini models like the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 13 Mini, Apple introduced the iPhone Plus in its first attempt to provide a bigger iPhone in the entry-level segment. The iPhone 14 is a more affordable option even as it shares the same 6.7-inch screen with the Pro Max’s model and offers superior battery life. But this model is likely to face the same fate as the last year’s iPhone 13 mini, which was discontinued. However, expect the more affordable iPhone 14 to exist for a while.
3. iPhone 13
The iPhone 13 was introduced in 2021 and brought a host of upgrades like better camera setup, smaller notch designs and longer battery life. Although, its price dropped to $599, there may be an end to the road for this model, which is three years old now. At the same price point, it may be replaced by the iPhone 14.
4. Apple Watch Series 9
The Apple Watch Series 10 is likely to replace the Series 9, which is currently the tech giant’s flagship product. The Apple Watch Series is likely to come with major updates such as new chipsets, thinner casings and more efficient screen. The company is likely to stop producing the older models after the launch of Watch Series 10.
5. Apple Watch Ultra 2
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is likely to replace the Ultra 2, which is already a premium model offering longer battery life and impressive features. However, it is expected that the new model will receive only minor updates. It is likely that Apple will discontinue the Ultra 2.
6. Apple Watch SE 2
The Apple Watch SE 3 is expected to replace the SE 2 model, a more affordable version of the Apple Watch. As per rumours, the new model will feature plastic casings to bring production costs down. Apple may stop selling the Apple Watch SE 2 after the launch of the new model.
7. AirPods 2
AirPods 2 was first launched in 2019 and the entry-level device has been the choice for several users. However, the company will most likely discontinue the AirPods 2 after the launch of AirPods 4, which will come in two different variants.
8. AirPods 3
Launched in 2021, AirPods 3 is most likely to be discontinued and is expected to be replaced by the AirPods 4. While this model offered better audio quality and the Spatial Audio feature, the new model will boast noise cancellation.
9. iPad mini 6
A new model with Apple Intelligence technology and more storage capacity is expected to replace the iPad mini 6, the latest version of a small iPad. It is expected that Apple will stop producing the iPad mini 6.
10. iPad 10
One of the cheapest iPads from Apple, the iPad 10 received a price drop earlier this year. Rumours are rife that the company will introduce a new model as its replacement. After the launch of iPad 11, chances of continuation of iPad 10 are slim.
