After months of speculations, excitement and buzz, Apple has finally introduced the new iPhone 16 series in India and other global markets. Apple has provided several upgrades to the standard iPhone 16 models, which will likely persuade people to buy the new version. The iPhone 16 Pro version has also received major changes over its predecessors. The iPhone 16 series will soon be available for pre-orders and will be sold on Flipkart, Amazon, Apple Store, and other platforms.
iPhone 16, Plus, Pro and Pro Max: India Prices And Availability
The iPhone 16 in the US market starts at $799 (roughly Rs 67,000), while the iPhone 16 Plus costs $899 (roughly Rs 75,500). The iPhone 16 Pro price starts at $999 (roughly Rs 83,870) for 128GB and $1,199 (roughly Rs 1 lakh) for the iPhone 16 Pro Max for 256GB.
iPhone 16 is priced at Rs 79,900 and the iPhone 16 Plus costs Rs 89,900 in India. The iPhone 16 Pro, starts at Rs 119,900 in our country. The most premium model, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, is priced at Rs 144,900.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 16 series begin in India on September 13 at 5:30 PM. The first sale will start on September 20.
iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus
Design, display
Apple has introduced the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, which are made of “aerospace-grade aluminum” and get a new coloured rear glass. The colour options are Ultramarine, Teal, Pink, White, and Black. The iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch display, the iPhone 16 Plus, on the other hand, comes with a larger 6.7-inch display. Both models have a peak brightness of 2,000 nits and can be dimmed down to 1 nit in dark environments.
The rumours about the action button on the standard models came out to be true. This feature gives you quick access to features like identifying songs, recording voice memos, or translating sentences. Users can also customise it with shortcuts or used for in-app functions like locking or unlocking a car through the FordPass app.
Additionally, the iPhone 16 now has a new camera control feature that allows users to adjust settings by simply sliding a finger across the screen. It’s located on the right below the on/off switch.
Apple has added a new camera control button, flush with the surface. A sapphire crystal protects this button. A single click launches the camera, another click takes a photo, and if you hold it down, it starts recording a video. Camera controls also support advanced touch gestures, which distinguish between a full and a lighter tap. A lighter press provides a clear preview and lets you frame your shot more accurately. Plus, a new overlay offers quick access to key camera functions, such as Zoom.
Chipset
Apple’s latest A18 chipset powers the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models. The chipset uses second-gen 3nm technology and has a 6-core processor with 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. According to Apple, the iPhone 16 offers up to 30% faster performance than the A16 Bionic in the iPhone 15. Additionally, the chip also offers 17% more system memory bandwidth.
Camera specs
The iPhone 16 now boasts a powerful 48MP main camera that combines 48MP and 12MP pictures into a clearer 24MP photo. The 12MP lens uses a 2x telephoto zoom option, as well as a faster f/1.6 aperture that offers better low-light images.
Now, users can shoot 4K60 video with Dolby Vision HDR. The new 12MP Ultra-Wide camera offfers a wider aperture and larger pixels that let in 2.6x more light for brighter and sharper pictures.
All iPhone 16 Series: Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence is one of the key features for iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models. Multiple generative models are being directly used on the iPhone to perform various tasks. Genmoji is an exciting feature, allowing you to create new emojis by simply typing a description.

iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max: Full Specs
Design and Display
iPhone 16 Pro models have been launched in a new gold shade and feature the Camera Control button. While the iPhone 16 Pro offers a 6.3-inch display, the iPhone 16 Pro Max comes with a 6.9-inch display, which is the largest ever on an iPhone. Both models have slimmer bezels and 120Hz always-on ProMotion displays. Pro models are offered in these colour options – Natural Titanium, Titanium White, Titanium Black, and a new Desert Titanium.
Chipset
The new A18 Pro chipset powers both the iPhone 16 Pro models. Based on second-generation 3nm transistors, the new chip is claimed to have a 6-core GPU that runs 20% faster than the A17 Pro. It features 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, which means up to 15% faster performance with 20% lower power consumption.
Camera upgrades
The triple rear camera system has been upgraded for the iPhone 16 Pro models. They now feature a new 48MP fusion camera with a second-gen quad-pixel sensor, enabling 0 shutter lag in 48MP ProRAW and HEIF photos. The cameras also support 4K120 video capture. Additionally, a new 48MP ultra-wide camera with autofocus has been added. Both Pro models also come with a 12MP sensor featuring a 5x telephoto lens with a 120mm focal length.
Audio Mix
The iPhone 16 Pro series has been launched with a new Audio Mix feature. Using machine learning, Audio Mix removes background noise from speech, and “In-Frame Mix” separates the voice of the person on camera, thereby creating a studio-like recording effect.
Battery
The size of the battery is not revealed by Apple. However, the tech giant claims to have optimised it with increased capacity and better power management. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is claimed to have the best battery life ever in an iPhone.
