The launch of the Apple iPhone 16 series is still a few months away. But rumours are swirling about the expected features, design and now the colour of the 2024 iPhone lineup. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the popular Apple analyst, the company headquartered in Cupertino could add two new colours to the iPhone 16 and will replace the existing ones.
Will Pro Models Get a New Rose Colour?
Sharing this information in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Kuo said the Pro models (iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max) could come in Black, Gray or “Natural Titanium,” White or Silver, and an all-new Rose colour. The existing iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are available in White Titanium, Black Titanium, Natural Titanium, and Blue Titanium.
Apple Expected To Rename Existing Colours
Apple is expected to rename existing colours. Kuo revealed that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are likely to come in Green, Black, Blue, Pink, and white colour options. Apple could also rename the previous colours, Kuo added. For example, the existing White colour could be renamed Starlight. “Also, even if the colour name is the same as the existing model, it may look different”, he says.

Kuo previously said that the iPhone 16 Pro Max should feature a new battery with better energy density, which could extend battery life if Apple keeps the battery size the same. According to Kuo, the iPhone 16 Pro Max battery will be fundamentally revised from an aluminium body to a stainless steel one.
This change not only increases the energy density of the battery, but also improves its structural integrity. Although stainless steel dissipates heat less effectively than aluminium, it offers stronger protection, which could have a positive impact on the overall durability of the device.
In a related news, display analyst Ross Young said production of displays for the Apple iPhone 16 will begin from June. This is within the schedule for last year’s iPhone 15 production and the launch of the 2024 iPhone series could follow the same schedule as last year.

Apple is expected to develop new A-series chips for the iPhone 16 series based on the latest 3-nanometer N3E node. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro could feature different chips, with the high-end chip limited to the Pro models.
Limited to iPhone 15 Pro models, the action button should also be available on all upcoming iPhone 16 models. There is also a new “capture button” for taking photos and videos. It works like the shutter button on a digital camera, detecting multiple levels of pressure to focus and then capture an image.
Apple is rumored to be planning a new vertical camera lens design on the new iPhone 16 series. The new orientation is aimed at allowing standard iPhone 16 models to record spatial videos for the Vision Pro headset.
According to rumors, the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro Max could receive a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens instead of the 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera on the iPhone 15 Pro model.
Overheating has been a major issue on all iPhone 15 models, but it is expected to be resolved on the iPhone 16 models. The iPhone 16 models are rumoured to feature a new thermal design to combat overheating. Apple is reportedly working on a graphene thermal system for iPhone 16 models, and iPhone 16 Pro models could also feature a metal battery case designed to improve heat dissipation.
The move to USB-C technology on iPhone 15 models should also be seen on iPhone 16 models.
