Apple typically rolls out its iPhone series in September each year, a pattern it has been following for several years. While we are still away from September, the iPhone 16 series is already the talk of the town. As tech enthusiasts anxiously await its launch, it will be interesting to see what Apple has in store for iPhone fans this time. Here is a round-up of all the major leaks surrounding the much-awaited upcoming iPhone 16 series.
New Camera Shutter Button
A recent leak that came via a video by EFTM’s Trevor Long, revealed a few design elements of the iPhone 16, thanks to the machined blanks, that are used to help the manufacturer make cases for the new iPhones. These blanks hint at a major change. Apple is rumoured to introduce a new button, dubbed as the Capture Button, on the right side of the phone. EFTM report says, “…it’s more likely Apple will set this to be exclusively the Camera Shutter button for iPhone.
Camera Lens Arrangement
Trevor Long’s video also claims that the upcoming smartphone will have a vertical camera lens arrangement contrary to what it is on the existing models. This could be a move to synchronise with the Apple Vision Pro headset to allow spatial video recording.
ALD coating
Recent reports suggest that Apple is exploring revolutionary technologies intending to improve the photography capabilities of its devices. A report from South Korean news aggregator Eyes1122’s Naver blog cited by MacRumors suggests that Apple could implement a cutting-edge anti-reflective optical coating technology called the Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) on the iPhone 16 Pro or Pro Max. It will address common photography issues like flare and ghosting, allowing users to make excellent photos and videos.

No Physical Buttons
If a recent leak is to be believed, Apple could ditch physical buttons and implement capacitive buttons instead. A report from Asia’s Economic Daily News says that Apple has got a massive order from Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, a Taiwanese supplier, for capacitive button components.
Bigger Display Sizes
An image posted by Tipster Sonny Dickson on X (formerly known as Twitter) reveals the new design and display sizes of Apple’s upcoming flagship phones. The images show that the iPhone 16 Pro could feature a 6.3-inch display instead of retaining the iPhone 15 Pro’s 6.1-inch screen size.
Furthermore, the iPhone 16 Pro Max could come with a 6.9-inch display instead of the 6.7-inch found on its predecessor iPhone 15 Pro Max. The basic iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus are said to retain the same displays- 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch, respectively.

New Camera Alignment
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus could this time feature a vertically aligned module, identical to the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12, instead of the diagonally oriented camera module found on the iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 15.
