With the release of the Apple iPhone 16 series expected later this year, the internet is abuzz with several leaks and speculations about the upcoming smartphone lineup. From the display and battery to camera, rumours are widely making rounds on social media about almost every aspect of the flagship 2024 iPhone. Current speculation is that the new iPhone 16 Pro Max will be larger than the previous model.
Tech leakster Daniel posted images of the iPhone 16 Pro Max on his X (formerly known as Twitter) handle as he compared it with the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The three images reveal the display, back and side panels of both smartphones. The iPhone 16 Pro Max could feature a 6.9-inch display, which means the screen could to be 0.2mm larger than its predecessor.
Although the images only show a minor difference in screen dimensions, the dummy unit does not confirm the actual display size, resolution or other details. Looking at the images, it can be assumed that the body of the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max model will be made of Titanium, just like the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 series is rumoured to have a different camera placement. However, the Pro Max model looks like a copy of the iPhone 15 Po Max in these images.
iPhone 16: Rumoured updates
Apple is expected to develop new A-series chips for the iPhone 16 series based on the latest 3-nanometer N3E node. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro could come with different chips, with the higher-end one limited to the Pro models.
The action button, limited to iPhone 15 Pro models, is also expected to arrive on all upcoming iPhone 16 models. In addition, there is a new “Capture Button” to take photos and videos. It works like the shutter button on a digital camera, recognising multiple levels of pressure to focus and then capture an image.

It is rumoured that the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro Max could receive a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens instead of the 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera on the iPhone 15 Pro model.
Overheating has been a major issue on all iPhone 15 models, but it is expected to be resolved on the iPhone 16 models. The iPhone 16 models are rumoured to feature a new thermal design to fight overheating. Apple is reportedly working on a graphene thermal system for iPhone 16 models, and iPhone 16 Pro models could also feature a metal battery case designed to improve heat dissipation.
