If you are using Google TV, there is bad news for you. Google is discontinuing its popular service, Google TV, which was launched around four years ago, in 2020.
Initially well-received, Google TV struggled to maintain popularity over time. The decision to shut down the service comes as Google has integrated the Google Play Movies & TV app with Google TV, allowing seamless access to content.
As per the reports, Google has provided information indicating the removal of the Google TV app. However, the app remains available on current Android TVs, select cable boxes, and web services, even though it is no longer supported. You can find more details on Google’s support page.
According to reports, if you are using Google Play Movies and TV, it will no longer be available on Android TV. However, access to YouTube can still be maintained on Google TV.
This service is scheduled to be discontinued starting January 17. Google has previously discontinued several apps, including Google Plus, Google Play Music, Google Allo, and Google Services. This isn’t the first time Google has decided to shut down a service.
