Telecom company Bharti Airtel had a nationwide service problem on Sunday. Thousands of users could not make calls or use mobile data in major cities. According to DownDetector, a website that tracks outages, complaints started around 11 am and reached a peak just after noon. By 12:11 pm, more than 6,800 reports were logged. About 52% of users said they had “No Signal,” while 31% reported mobile internet issues. “Airtel Down” has become one of the top trends on X (formerly Twitter), with hundreds of users complaining about network connectivity issues.
Airtel confirmed the disruption, calling it a temporary glitch and assuring a swift resolution. “We apologise for the inconvenience. The issue you’re facing is due to a temporary connectivity disruption and is expected to be resolved within an hour. Please restart your device after that time to restore services,” the company’s official Airtel Cares account posted.

The network outage left thousands of users unable to make calls or access mobile data in several key cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Chennai, according to multiple media reports. Over 6,800 complaints were logged.

“Anyone else in Bangalore experiencing an Airtel network outage? Calls aren’t going through, and data isn’t working,” asked one X user. “No network in Dharwad , Karnataka? Airtel, what happened?” another asked. This issue happened after a similar outage earlier in the week in Delhi and nearby areas. At that time, services were interrupted for a short while before they were restored.

Reports of problems also came from Delhi, with one user joking, “For the last hour my wife thinks I’m ignoring her calls. Thanks Airtel, for turning a network issue into a marriage issue.”
Customers also echoed similar grievances on Reddit. One Bengaluru user noted, “I can’t book a cab for a meeting in a few hours,” while another alleged that Airtel’s customer support channels — including its app, helpline, and X handle — were unresponsive during the outage.
