5 Things you should never share with ChatGPT-Gemini – doing so could land you in serious trouble

Asking ChatGPT for advice on all your needs could lead you into some serious problems. It sometimes offers answers that are convincingly wrong and delivers responses that are biased.

ChatGPT has now replaced Google in many cases. No matter how hard you try to avoid it and its kin, its ease of functioning will draw you to its use. But just because it streamlines your work and gives you the right summarised version of the news does not mean it is the perfect choice for all your needs and questions.

Asking ChatGPT for advice on all your needs could lead you into some serious problems. It sometimes offers answers that are convincingly wrong and delivers responses that are biased. Hence, ChatGPT should not be trusted as the main source of information for all your needs.

Here are a few things you should never do with ChatGPT:

Diagnosing Physical Health Issues

Do not search your symptoms on ChatGPT. The answers that come back might lead you to become depressed. As a user, you should understand that it has been programmed to review all possibilities and then provide an answer. Getting it to summarise a doctor’s note or translate medical jargon could make a doctor’s visit a little less overwhelming.

Taking Care of Your Mental Health

Do not take mental health advice from ChatGPT. While it will refrain from pointing you in the wrong direction, it may give out biased answers that might not be what you want to hear during distress. ChatGPT cannot understand experiences; it rather keeps stock of them to help others around the world who might have remotely similar issues. Its advice can misfire, overlook red flags, and it may also sometimes reinforce biases that it has been fed during training. At best, it can simulate a therapist, but a real therapist works under legal mandates and professional codes that protect you from harm.

Financial and Personalised Tax Planning

ChatGPT can summarise various income and tax laws, but it does not know about your debt-to-income ratio, state tax bracket and filing status, retirement goals, or risk appetite. Its training data might stop short of the current tax year and the latest rate hikes. So refrain from entering your personal financial details.

Dealing With Personalised and Regulated Data

Refrain from uploading client contracts, medical charts, or any of your personal financial details, including documents related to your income taxes, birth certificate, driver’s licence, and passport. Once your information is in the prompt window, you will lose control over it and will not be able to ascertain where it is stored and who might be able to access it.

Monitoring News

ChatGPT cannot run a stream of continual updates on its own; every refresh will need a new prompt, and news monitoring will become a difficult task. It has the ability to fetch multiple web pages, stock quotes, gas prices, sports scores and other numbers in real time, and beyond that, it can also verify the source of the news with ease.
