New Delhi: West Indies and Zimbabwe are playing their 1st Test match of 2 matches series at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite, won the toss and decided to bat first.

Opener Kraigg Brathwaite and Tejnarine Chanderpaul outplayed the opponent team, both the opener now hold the record for the highest opening partnership for the West Indies in the Test format.

221 runs opening stand

Both the opener started the inning and put-up double century stand. Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul put the West Indies in the ascendancy against Zimbabwe. Brathwaite remained unbeaten on 116 while Chanderpaul carried his bat for 101 not out. Windies were 221 without loss when the umpires called for stumps on Day 2.

Breaks 32 years-old record

Brathwaite and Tejnarine have set the new opening stand record, as the duo broke the previous record for the highest partnership in Tests for the West Indies. Which was created by the pair of Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes, who put on 298 runs for the first wicket in the Test against England in April 1990.

West Indies vs Zimbabwe scorecard

West Indies have scored 373 runs by losing 2 wickets till the first session of the third day. Tejnarine Chanderpaul remains unbeaten on 161, while Kraigg Brathbet departs for 182. Rayman Reifer has just come to the crease. Wellington Masakadza and Brandon Mavuta took 1-1 wickets for Zimbabwe.
