Abhishek Sharma powered IND to 234/2 vs ZIM
Electing to bat first this time, skipper Shubman Gill departed early on in the innings at just 2. His opening partner however, had a comeback in his mind after being dismissed for a duck on his debut. Abhishek Sharma produced a scintillating display of power-hitting and scored his maiden T20I century for India in just 47 deliveries. Hitting 7 boundaries and 8 sixes, Abhishek took the Zimbabwe bowlers for a ride and completed his ton with back-to-back 3 sixes.
Ruturaj Gaikwad also stepped up for the Men In Blue and scored 77 runs on the day, giving a little tribute to former Indian skipper MS Dhoni as well on his birthday. Rinku Singh also contributed well with a 48-run knock which steered Team India to a huge total of 234/2 in the 1st innings.
IND Bowlers Finish The Job Convincingly vs ZIM
Chasing a mammoth 235, Zimbabwe didn’t have the perfect start to their innings as Mukesh Kumar got his side the breakthrough again in the 1st over itself. He dismissed Innocent Kaia yet again on just 4. What followed was a top order meltdown by the hosts as they lost 4 wickets within the powerplay, including their skipper Sikandar Raza with the score at 46/4 at the end of the 4th over.
What was started by the Indian pacers, was later carried forward by the spinners, namely Ravi Bishnoi and Washington Sundar. Opener Wessley Madhevere topscored for the hosts with a gritty 43 runs but that it would have taken something extraordinary by the batters in order to chase down such a target on the day.
Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar led the bowling line up with 3 wickets each followed by Ravi Bishnoi who got 2 scalps on the day as Zimbabwe was restricted at 134 in their 20 overs. Team India tie the series 1-1 and will now be playing the 3rd T20I on 10th July.
