ZIM Trigger A Top-Order Meltdown vs IND
Led by Shubman Gill, his opening partner and debutant Abhishek Sharma gave India the worst stat possible by departing on a duck in the 2nd over. While Ruturaj Gaikwad was expected to give the side some momentum, he too saw himself being sent back to the pavilion at just 7 runs courtesy of a Blessing Muzarabani delivery.
Another debutant fell prey to the Zimbabwe bowlers as Riyan Parag also departed for just 2 runs which saw a top order meltdown in process for a young and inexperienced Indian side.
Rinku Singh, who returned after travelling as a reserve for the T20 World Cup continued the trend and got dismissed for a duck as well. It was skipper Shubman Gill who tried to play a steady innings as he saw Dhruv Jurel depart in the 10th over for just 7 as the skipper stood his ground in order to prevent an upset in the first T20 itself.
