Prior to his retirement from the wrestling ring, John Cena promised to give a few WWE stars an unforgettable experience, among them Roxanne Perez, the budding star. Out of all the events in his Farewell Tour, it was indeed the Intercontinental Championship match of John Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series that could be called the most extravagant with all its accompanying festivities.
The match, which he lost in the end, involved interferences from the members of Judgment Day with Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez executing the Tejana Bomb and Pop Rox moves, respectively on the WWE icon.
Roxanne Perez stunned by John Cena’s direct involvement
In an interview with Alistair McGeorge for Metro, Roxanne Perez disclosed a hidden truth that the suggestion of their participation in the match came straight from John Cena’s mind. The ex-WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion couldn’t have pictured herself in the ring with Cena, let alone executing one of her top moves on the future Hall of Famer.
Perez recalls her doubts before Cena fully backed the spot
Perez was not sure Cena would agree to take a finisher from her given his size, but was happy to find he was receptive to the idea.
“I wasn’t entirely sure if he would want to take a finisher from me because of how small I am. And I wasn’t sure if he would want to take a Powerbomb from Raquel Rodriguez, but he was all for it!”
Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling played a key role in Perez’s development
Roxanne Perez has been a professional wrestler trainee since 13 years old and was already a part of Booker T’s Reality Of Wrestling at that time, getting difficulties with other greatest prospects in the industry.
Perez reflects on navigating the indies at a young age
Following an impressive series of performances in the independent circuit and Ring of Honor, WWE did not take long to sign the young talent with a contract in 2022, and Rox has not turned back ever since. Even though her ascension to the top of pro wrestling has been like a rocket, Roxanne Perez has openly talked about her problems and challenges, and self-doubt moments as she remembered:
“Being 16 years old, 17 years old on the indies, surrounded by all these older, more experienced people, was definitely a little… how can I put it? I guess it was hard to navigate at that age, just because I wasn’t sure if I was on the same level.”
Perez’s growing role within The Judgment Day turns heads
Roxanne Perez has been working with The Judgment Day on a full-time basis since June and has already demonstrated, through her in-ring performances, that she could be a potential major singles star. Not long ago, she also spoke about the bond she shares with her stablemate Dominik Mysterio after Liv Morgan’s comeback to the company.
