WWE RAW began with the Ring General, Gunther, taking pleasure in the fans’ reaction after he had knocked out John Cena in his very last match over the weekend. Adam Pearce requested him to exit the program due to his behavior the night before. The opening segment was soon followed by a clash of old feuds that took place on the same night in the form of The Usos, who made an official return to the tag team division last week, taking on The New Day.
The Usos return to protect the titles against new threats
The New Day, together with Grayson Waller, were ready to pounce on the World Tag Team Champions, AJ Styles and Dragon Lee, after last week’s match but were soon outnumbered as The Usos came in to back up the champions, thus leading to tonight’s match. The Usos and the New Day fought each other in a series of matches for the tag team titles in 2017 and 2018, with both teams being the clear front-runners in the tag division at that time.
The New Day’s hopes dashed as the Usos prevail
The match was a throwback to the past today when the two squads faced off after a long interval of nearly a year and a half, The Usos being the winners of that encounter. The twins, Jimmy and Jey, were in full control in the early stages of the fight however, Grayson Waller’s constant interferences kept reviving The New Day’s hopes in the match.
However, luck didn’t favor Waller as he got caught one too many times by the referee and was hence, sent backstage, which marked the start of the end for The New Day. Jey knocked out Xavier on the outside with a spear, and then together they executed the 1D on Kofi Kingston to be declared the match winners.
