The start of WrestleMania 41 Night-1 was absolutely breathtaking. Gunther defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Jey Uso in the headliner. Throughout the course of the bout, Jey enjoyed the backing of the audience. That backing contributed significantly to his win as he left the match with the title of the championship.
This was a historic moment for Jey, who became a world champion for the first time in his 15-year career and that too on the big stage of WrestleMania. Gunther had captured the title at last year’s SummerSlam and retained it for a whopping 259 days before Jey put an end to his reign. Significantly, Jey had won this right after emerging as the winner of this year’s Royal Rumble and issuing an open challenge to Gunther for the title at WrestleMania. WWE ultimately paid Jey for his commitment and hard work.

What Happened In The WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match?
Not surprisingly, the Jey Uso and Gunther bout was a sheer barnburner. Gunther controlled at first, taking advantage of his physicality and forceful chops to break Jey down. Gunther smashed a Powerbomb followed by a Big Boot onto Jey, who fell flat to the floor. The Ring General even turned sleazy and smacked Jey with the belt of honor.
Gunther subsequently pinned Jey in a sleeper hold, and for an instant it seemed as though Jey would lose. But with huge effort, Jey was able to free himself.
In the last few seconds of the match, Jey staged an unbelievable comeback. He reversed all of Gunther’s attempts with vigor and willpower. He executed two superkicks, one spear, and three Uso Splashes that sent Gunther stumbling. Jey then applied a sleeper hold of his own, and Gunther had no other option but to tap out. And thus, Jey Uso was crowned the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Jimmy Uso Joins the Party
Jimmy Uso was also a key player in the current narrative between Jey and Gunther. Jimmy had been brutally beaten by Gunther a few weeks prior on Raw, with Jimmy left bloody in the ring, while Jey was handcuffed to the ropes and helpless. Subsequently, Jey announced that Jimmy was hospitalized and vowed revenge at WrestleMania 41.
Following Jey’s tearful title victory, Jimmy entered the ring. The twin brothers hugged, and the crowd went wild. Together, they danced in the ring, dancing their way back through the crowd and to the backstage area.
This was a truly special moment for Jey Uso, one that he and his fans will never forget.
