Famous Mexican wrestler and wrestling legend Rey Mysterio Sr passed away at the age of 66 on Friday, December 20. The information was confirmed by the family. Rey Mysterio Sr is the grand uncle of WWE superstar Dominik Mysterio and and his real name is Miguel Angel Lopez Dias. Rey Mysterio Sr appeared at various promotional events which includes the World Wrestling Association. Rey Mysterio Sr made his debut in the year 1976 and wrestled for major wrestling brands such as Pro Wrestling Revolution, Tijuana Wrestling and World Wrestling Association.

Rey Mysterio Sr. Passes Away
He was often referred as Rey Mysterio Sr to differentiate him from his nephew Dominik Mysterio. Aalya, who is his grand niece, has appeared in WWE on the numerous number of occasions. He ended up winning the WWA World Junior Light Heavyweight Championship once whereas also lifted the WWA Tag Team Championship with Rey Mysterio Jr as well.
The last few months have been very tough for the Mysterio family as Rey Mysterio Jr’s father and Dominik Mysterio’s grand father Roberto Gutierrez, passed away at the age of 76. Rey Mysterio Jr shared an emotional on Instagram on the passing away of his father. The post read, “You did more than set the example of how to love & maintain a strong marriage and father 4 boys, you were the example and passed every single time until your death with flying colors. Excellent husband, loving father, beautiful grandfather, incredible son & brother, and amazing father in law.”
“You checked every list on the box and can honestly say my majority [traits] I picked up from you. You fought until the very last minute and know that you biggest fear was leaving Moms behind, but I can assure you that she will not be alone and we will always look out for her.”
