Goldberg has been successful in both his stints at WCW and WWE, with a reputation for being incredibly strong and capable of beating legends. Now, as he sets up for his retirement match, he recently reaffirmed that he is set for his last match in 2025. Though he’s reaching the twilight of his wrestling days, Goldberg isn’t quite leaving the sport behind—he’s also set on training his son, Gage, who already has experience in WWE.
Though Gage’s first love remains football, that may change down the line. It’s interesting to remember that Goldberg himself had once ventured into a career in football but later turned to wrestling after failing to make it in the sport. The same may be true for Gage, and it appears Goldberg is willing to be there for him no matter what direction he will go.
What did Goldberg have to say about his son’s wrestling future?
Goldberg recently made an appearance on Ariel Helwani’s program, where he discussed his son’s future wrestling career. “It will be a special option for Gage,” Goldberg explained. “I’ve noticed his love of sports, and he’s already demonstrating a lot of potential. He’s a much finer baseball player than I was. I don’t want to compare him, but I’ll give him whatever he needs to be successful in his life. Time will show when the opportunity for wrestling will arise.”
When will Goldberg’s last WWE match be?
Goldberg also hinted that his son may be coming into WWE as well. If Gage follows in his father’s footsteps, he could find success in the wrestling world. Recently, Goldberg confirmed that he plans to return to WWE in the summer of 2025 for his final match, which may take place before SummerSlam. His opponent is expected to be Gunar, with their storyline possibly continuing from a heated encounter at last year’s Bad Blood event. This bout may be a great and apt ending to Goldberg’s professional wrestling career.
