WWE Backlash 2025 is set for May 10, but everyone is also watching NXT’s Battleground event, which will air on May 25. The company has already confirmed some blockbuster bouts for the show. On the latest episode of NXT, General Manager Ava made a groundbreaking announcement, saying that something never before seen in WWE is going to take place.
It has been made known that TNA Champion Joe Hendry will be defending his title at Battleground. This will be the first time a TNA title will be defended on a WWE premium live event, which is a huge milestone. Recently, WWE and TNA made a big deal, and since then, TNA stars have been causing waves in WWE.
At NXT, Joe Hendry partnered with Hank and Tank for a six-man tag team match against Darkstate. During the match, Trick Williams interrupted and got into a fight with Hendry, which caused Hendry’s team to lose the match. Trick had previously been disqualified from a No. 1 Contender Battle Royal due to Hendry, and their feud was the result.
Trick and Hendry have been at odds for some time now, with Trick making numerous attacks on Hendry over the past few weeks. During a backstage segment, Ava made an announcement that Hendry will make a defense of his TNA title against Trick Williams at Battleground. This will be the first time that a title from another promotion will be defended at a WWE PLE. A contract signing between the two is scheduled for next week, and Trick now has a chance to make history by becoming TNA Champion.
Joe Hendry’s WrestleMania 41 Moment
Joe Hendry has quickly become a household name in the wrestling arena and has a sizeable fan base. Whenever he walks into the ring, fans go berserk. On WrestleMania 41, Hendry surprised everyone by appearing during Night 2 as Randy Orton’s surprise opponent.
