WTC Final 2025: Pat Cummins Confirms No Personal Attacks On Kagiso Rabada Over Drug Suspension

South Africa are all prepared to face Australia in the much awatied WTC final at the historical Lord’s Cricket Ground. According to Pat Cummins, Australia will not target Kagiso Rabada with the drug ban as a way to sledge the South Africa pacer in the World Test Championship final, which will commence on June 11. Rabada had to miss one month of action and depart the IPL, where he was playing in the Gujarat Titans camp, after two games and fly back home to South Africa.

Pat Cummins Unbothered by Kagiso Rabada Drug Saga

The South African Institute for Drug Free Sport (SAIDS) has announced on its website that Rabada tested positive for “benzoylecgonine, a cocaine metabolite.” He was selected by South Africa for the World Test Championship final versus Australia at Lord’s, London. Before the mega finale, Cummins was summoned with a question on whether his team would attempt at Rabada due to his drug ban.

To which Cummins responded, “It is not much our style. I should be surprised if that should come out.”

About Kagiso Rabada’s Drug Case

The recreation drug that got South Africa seamer Kagiso Rabada is the one that got him suspended in the game of cricket, one month, because it was found to be cocaine by the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS). It is also a signatory of World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the organisation publishes the list of failed drug test results one month after the appeal period of the sanctioned athletes has lapsed. SAIDS posted its findings on June 3, and they showed that Benzoylecgonine, a cocaine metabolite was found in the results of Rabada. On consuming cocaine, it is broken down in the liver to benzoylecgonine that is excreted in the urine.
