Their sole victory this season was against Royal Challengers Bangalore Women, but they faced another loss against Mumbai Indians despite initially controlling the game, conceding 91 runs in the last six overs. Consequently, Gujarat Giants are at risk of elimination from the tournament, but they still hold a slim chance mathematically and will aim to stay in contention by winning their remaining two matches.
Meanwhile, UP Warriorz secured a win in their previous match against Delhi Capitals by one run. They currently stand fourth on the points table with three wins out of seven matches, totaling six points. In their recent game, UP Warriorz faced a tough situation with Delhi Capitals needing 15 runs from the last two overs with six wickets in hand. However, Deepti Sharma and Grace Harris turned the game around, taking six wickets and conceding only 13 runs in the final two overs.
UP Warriorz need a victory in the upcoming match to remain in the race for the knockouts, and a substantial win would significantly boost their chances. Therefore, they will be motivated to showcase their best performance and dominate Gujarat Giants in their next encounter.
In this season’s WPL, the team batting first has won four out of five matches played so far. The average first innings score stands at 175, with the highest successful chase being 191. Considering this trend, the captain winning the toss is likely to opt for batting first.
