New Delhi: The first season of the most anticipated Women's Premier League (WPL) will begin on March 4. WPL is the women's version of the men's Indian Premier League (IPL) backed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Opening Ceremony details
There will be a grand opening ceremony before the first match of the WPL, at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Bollywood actresses Kriti Sanon, Kiara Advani and singer AP Dhillion will rock the stage at the opening ceremony. Meanwhile, singer Sankar Mahadevan will sing the WPL anthem - ‘Ye toh bas shuruat hai.’
Anthem - Tribute to women in sports
The theme song is a tribute to the resilience and determination of Indian women cricketers, who have overcome numerous obstacles to reach the pinnacle of the sport.
The anthem captures the essence of the league and the spirit of the players and talks about the challenges they faced while making their careers in the game. The song encourages the players to continue their journey and promises that they will stay stronger and more determined than ever before.

BCCI has arranged the opening ceremony Secretary Jay Shah and president Roger Binny will be present at the grand function. Viacom 18 are the official telecaster of WPL 2023, so Sports 18 will telecast the opening ceremony. Meanwhile, Jio Cinema will be providing live streaming of the show.
