New Delhi: With two months left in the ODI World Cup, India are still searching for a suitable player for the number four position in the batting order. Earlier in the 2019 World Cup too, this place had become a big issue for the Indian team.

No batter at 4th place for India
Now Indian captain Rohit Sharma has given a big statement related to this on Thursday. Rohit has said that after the retirement of Yuvraj Singh, no player has been particularly successful in this position in the Indian ODI team and this is a problem for the team ahead of the World Cup.
Injury hit India
Batting at number four, Shreyas Iyer, who is now preparing to make a comeback after being out for a long time due to injury, scored 805 runs in 20 matches, including two centuries and five half-centuries.
Iyer’s injury big blow to India
Rohit told reporters on the sidelines of an event, ‘Shreyas Iyer was batting at number four for some time and he also performed well. His stats are really great. He has been out for a while due to injuries and to be honest, it has been happening for the last four-five years. Many of these players got injured and in such a situation the new player had to come down to bat at that place.
Rohit said, ‘Even when I was not the captain, I was looking into it. Many players have come and gone. Either he got injured or he was not available for selection or someone had lost his form.
Wicket-keeper issue
“KL Rahul and Iyer, who have been India’s priority wicket-keeper batsmen for the number five spot in the batting order, are gearing up for a comeback and Rohit said it will have to wait and see how these two players perform. No one is automatically selected, not even me. No one’s place in the team is confirmed,” he added.

“Yes some players know they are going to play. In the three ODIs against the West Indies, we got a chance to try a few players. We have to face good teams in the Asia Cup as well,” he concluded.
Asia Cup before World Cup
The Asia Cup will be organized just before the World Cup. Rohit said, ‘There is going to be a meeting of the selection committee in the next few days and there will be a good discussion on what we can do. But to be honest, no one’s place is confirmed, be it top order or lower order. We have many names. We will see what a good combination can be for the World Cup and before that the Asia Cup.
