New Delhi: India defeated Thailand in the first semi-final match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2022. After losing the toss, Team India got the invitation to bat first. India scored 148 for 6 in 20 overs.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s team could only manage to score 74 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Deepti Sharma bowled amazingly and took 3 wickets at the expense of 7 runs in 4 overs.
India may play Pakistan in the final. The second semi-final match is to be played between Pakistan women’s team and Sri Lanka women’s team. The winning team of this match will play the final against India.

Shefali Verma smashes 42 runs off 28 balls
Opener Shefali Verma played a quick innings and scored 42 runs. She faced 28 balls in her innings and smashed 5 fours and 1 six. Whereas, Jemima Rodrigues scored 27 runs while Mandhana was dismissed on 13 runs by Fanita Maya. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored 36 runs in 30 balls.
India tops the points table
Talking about the performance of the Indian team in the Women’s Asia Cup, the team has played six matches so far and has won five. India has defeated Sri Lanka, Malaysia, UAE, Bangladesh and Thailand. The Indian team reached the semi-finals by topping the points table.
On the other hand Thailand defeated Pakistan, UAE and Malaysia in the league rounds. This is the first time that Thailand’s team has reached the semi-finals of a multi-national tournament in cricket.
