The squad for Team India in the five-match Test series against England has been made public. Youngsters were given a chance in this tour, and a few seniors have also come back successfully. Although star fast bowler Mohammed Shami was looking forward to resuming his career from injury, he has not been called for the tour. Many have wondered why he was not considered. We understand if you wonder about this yourself, and you don’t have to look further.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar said at the press conference that medical checks have shown that Shami will not play in the series. He aimed to get fit again for the matches ahead, but last week, he had some difficulties that led him to have an MRI scan.
“I don’t think he’ll be able to play the entire five-match Test series,” Agarkar said. “We were hoping he would be available for a few games, but if he doesn’t recover in time, waiting too long would be difficult. It’s quite unfortunate for us because we always want a bowler like him in the squad.”
