The India national cricket team suffered a heartbreaking 1-3 loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia. This was the first time, Indian team lost the BGT after 2017 and were completely outplayed by the Australian team. India ended up being victorious in the first Test match in Perth however, they ended up being rattled by Australia in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. There were several reasons behind Team India’s loss in the BGT. This includes the failure of top batters including non-performance of batters such as Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and others. On the other hand, the Indian team remained more dependent on Jasprit Bumrah. The latter picked up 32 wickets throughout the series and was the leading wicket-taker.
Sunil Gavaskar Slams Team India Management
Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has slammed Indian coaching staff including Gautam Gambhir, Abhishek Nayar and others. Gavaskar wants the BCCI to question the reason behind Team India’s losing streak in Tests against New Zealand and Australia. Gavaskar said to India Today, “I don’t know about merit in having different coaches. That is something, you know, that we need to look at in a different scenario, not right now. But surely questions have to be asked of him (Gambhir) and his coaching staff. What were they doing that we had this situation where we are losing, losing, losing?.”
