Fast bowler Akashdeep performed brilliantly in the Duleep Trophy 2024. He performed brilliantly while playing for India A and thrashed the batters of India B. Akash took 9 wickets in his first match of the Duleep Trophy 2024.

However, he could not lead his team to victory. But he has got a chance in the Indian team. Akash has credited senior fast bowler Mohammed Shami for his brilliant performance. He has also told how following Shami’s advice has helped him take 9 wickets.

Shami’s “Guru Mantra”

In the Duleep Trophy, Akashdeep took 4 wickets in the first innings and 5 wickets in the second innings. After the match, he credited Mohammad Shami for his brilliant performance. He said, ‘I learn from Shami. Because my and his action is almost the same. I asked him how to bowl outswing to a left-handed batsman from round the wicket. Shami told me not to force it. Because it will happen naturally.’

Shami and Akashdeep play their domestic cricket for Bengal. Hence, there is a special bond between the two.

Selected in Indian Team

Akashdeep made it to the Indian Test team on the basis of his excellent performance. He has been selected for the first match of the 2-Test series against Bangladesh. Akash also got a chance in the Test series against England played at the beginning of the year.

He took 3 wickets in his first match. However, now once again he has been given a chance by the team management. Akash will be seen bowling with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj against Bangladesh.
