The Indian fans have been very furious with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for Team India’s debacle in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The Indian team ended up losing the five-match series by a margin of 1-3 which resulted in its disqualification from the final of World Test Championship. At one end, Rohit had a below-average outing with the bat and his captaincy also went under scrutiny. On the other hand, Virat scored 190 runs from nine innings which included a hundred in Perth. However, the latter got out cheaply in the rest eight innings which also raised questions regarding his batting technique.

Navjot Singh Sidhu Slams Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Trolls
Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has targeted the trollers who dragged Virat Kohli’s family while trolling the Indian batter. While speaking to Sports Today, Navjot highlighted the examples of Mark Taylor and Sourav Ganguly when they were given a long time to make a comeback. Sidhu further stated that the duo played an important role behind Team India’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph and slammed those who are playing the blame game after the BGT series loss.
“If someone is in bad form for 2 months, you can’t delete them. I know you can’t rest on your laurels, you have to refresh them, but you have to give allowance. Mark Taylor failed for 1.5 years, (Mohammed) Azharuddin failed, (Sourav) Ganguly said that I can fail in 8 innings, but it just takes one to come back”, he said.
“They won you a World Cup 6 months ago, and now, you have ODI cricket throughout. You just can’t target the two and ignore others. Who showed consistency with the red ball? Blaming is the easiest thing, Throwing stones is easy, but there are a few who build homes with stones thrown at them, and these two are prime examples”, Sidhu said.
“It’s not the first time when Kohli faced criticism, people even drag his wife. It’s wrong, we must respect our heroes. Keep patience. Everyone goes through a rough period”, he added.
Some reports had emerged that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli may announce retirements from Test cricket after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, however, the fact cannot be denied that both the players are the backbone of the Indian side and mayn’t leave Test cricket so early.
