Dubai: Rohit Sharma-led India got kicked out of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 and in many ways it can be blamed to a lot of experiments done in the team.

Rohit Sharma says –  we need four seamers

On playing with three seamers in the tournament, Rohit said that it was the experiment and it taught us that we would need four seamers.

“Ideally the combination we would play is four seamers, but three seamers was something we wanted to try before the World Cup. We need to find answers as a team, like where we are with five bowlers. We know now where we stand with this combination. No long term worries, we have lost only two games back to back,” said India captain after losing the game.

“Since the last World Cup, we haven’t lost too many games. These games will teach us. We wanted to put ourselves under pressure in the Asia Cup. We are still looking for answers,” he added.

India lost by 6 wickets

India has lost their fixture against Sri Lanka by 6 wickets and thus, ended their Asia Cup 2022 campaign in Dubai. Earlier, Men in Blue lost their first fixture of Super 4 stage against Pakistan and the defeat against hosts has ended the tournament for them.

After put to bat first, Rohit Sharma powered India put 173 runs on board but they were not enough to win against Sri Lanka. The hosts won the game on penultimate ball as Dasun Shanaka hit the ball for the final runs.

“We just ended up on the wrong side, as simple as that. Instead, we could have capitalized on the first half of our innings. However, we fell 10-15 runs short. The second half wasn’t good for us. The guys who were out in the middle can learn about what shots can be played. These things can happen. Losses like these will make us understand what works as a team,’ said India captain after losing the game.
