Virat Kohli’s Feat
Earlier, Virat Kohli became the first ever Indian batter to reach 12,000 runs in T20 cricket as he opened his IPL 2024 account with 21 runs for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
He also completed 1,000 runs in the IPL against Chennai Super Kings, equalling David Warner’s record for becoming only the second batter to score 1,000 runs against two different oppositions in the league.
Opting to bat first, RCB made a strong start with opener Faf du Plessis immediately scoring big. However, Mustafizur Rahman’s impressive return to the CSK lineup led to the home team taking their first wicket in the 5th over. In the same over, Rahman also dismissed Rajat Patidar, increasing pressure on RCB’s batting lineup.
Virat Kohli attempted to regain momentum as he reached the milestone of 12,000 runs in T20 cricket. However, both Kohli and Maxwell were dismissed cheaply, leaving RCB struggling at 78/5 within 12 overs.
