This match is crucial for India to level the series. In the first Test, Dean Elgar’s remarkable 185 and South African bowlers’ excellent performance led to India’s defeat by an innings and 32 runs. The upcoming second Test presents an opportunity for India to rectify their performance.
Following a dry spell between 2020 and 2022, India’s star batsman Virat Kohli made a remarkable return to form in 2023, exhibiting historic, record-breaking, and consistent performances with the bat. He shattered several significant batting records that were previously considered unachievable.
Kohli was the only glimmer of hope going into the final session of the 1st Test against South Africa as well with the 35-year-old trying to make things tick from one end. Unfortunately, India kept losing wickets at the other end which saw his innings come to a halt after a well-made 76 off 82 deliveries.
