The 2024-25 Test season was disappointing for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, as both batsmen failed to prove themselves in the longer format. Rohit scored just 164 runs in 8 Tests at a modest average of 10.93, including just one half-century. Last year, Virat Kohli performed slightly better than Rohit in Tests, but could only score 382 runs in 10 Tests at an average of 22.87. 1 century and 1 fifty came off his bat.

Both the legends flopped in domestic cricket
After struggling with poor form in Tests, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played Ranji, but flopped there too. Rohit scored 3 and 28 runs in the Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir, while Kohli, who played for Delhi after 12 years, could score 6 runs. In the year 2024, Virat struggled in all formats. Last year, he scored 655 international runs in 23 matches at a modest average of 21.83. Which included one century.
Rohit Sharma’s magic was seen only in T20
In 2024, Rohit led India to the T20 World Cup title as captain and was the team’s highest run-scorer in the tournament, scoring 257 runs at an impressive strike rate of 156.70. Over the year, he scored 378 T20 runs in 11 matches at an average of 42.00, including a century and three half-centuries.

Played only 3 ODIs last year
Both Rohit and Kohli got limited opportunities to play in ODIs last year. India played only three matches against Sri Lanka, where Rohit scored 157 runs at an average of 52.33. Although Kohli’s performance was poor, he has scored 1,435 runs in 30 ODIs since 2023 at an impressive average of 65.22, including six centuries and eight half-centuries.
