Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has always enjoyed a reputation as one of the most disciplined and hardworking players in the national setup. But this week, his name made headlines for a very different reason because of a strong statement made by his wife and Gujarat’s Education Minister, Rivaba Jadeja.
During a recent public event, Rivaba sparked a major discussion among fans and on social media after questioning the habits and sense of responsibility shown by some Indian cricketers during overseas tours.
‘He plays everywhere but doesn’t fall into any vice‘
Speaking about her husband, Rivaba praised Jadeja for maintaining discipline despite the freedom players often have on foreign tours.
She highlighted that Jadeja has travelled extensively London, Dubai, Australia, and several other countries but has “never indulged in any kind of vice.” According to her, Jadeja understands his profession deeply and knows how important his responsibilities are, both as a cricketer and a public figure.
Subtle dig at other players?
What caught everyone’s attention was what she said next. Without naming anyone, Rivaba claimed that several Indian players engage in misconduct abroad.

Her remarks immediately set off a debate online, with fans wondering who she might be referring to and whether the issue is bigger than what’s publicly known. While there’s no confirmation, the statement has certainly put the spotlight on the off-field behaviour of Indian cricketers.
“No restrictions, yet he chooses the right path”
Rivaba emphasised that Jadeja could easily take advantage of the freedom he gets on tours, no curfews, no strict off-field restrictions. But despite that, she said he chooses not to stray. Her comments were as much praise for Jadeja as they were a reminder that some players might not always uphold the same standards.
Jadeja set for a fresh start with Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026
Jadeja will soon starting a new chapter in his IPL journey. After being a pivotal part of Chennai Super Kings for more than a decade, he was traded to Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2026 season.
In a full-circle moment, Jadeja will return to the franchise where he first made his IPL debut back in 2008 under Shane Warne’s captaincy.
