MS Dhoni made his ODI debut against Bangladesh on December 23, 2004. He played his Test debut against Sri Lanka in December 2005. Dhoni was given the captaincy of the Indian cricket team for the first time in September 2007. He took over the captaincy of India in the T20 World Cup 2007 and made India the world champion.
