Encountering such moments where fans go to great lengths to meet their favourite star on the ground is nothing new for Kohli. The star batsman has been known to graciously accept such gestures in the past. During the IPL 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings in Bangalore, former India skipper Kohli experienced another such instance. Prior to the start of the RCB innings, a fan breached security to touch Kohli’s feet and embrace him.
Previously, Kohli surpassed Suresh Raina to become the Indian player with the most catches in men’s T20 cricket. The 35-year-old took the catch of PBKS batter Jonny Bairstow to reach 173 catches in the T20 format. He also caught Shikhar Dhawan during the match. This achievement propelled Kohli past former India cricketer Raina, who held the record with 172 catches. India captain Rohit Sharma follows closely in the third position with 167 catches.
