Siraj, Shami give an early lead

New Delhi: The first match of the four-match Test series between India and Australia will be played in Nagpur from today. Australia has decided to bowl after winning the toss in this match. It is very important for both the teams to win this series. On winning the series, India would like to secure a place in the final of the World Test Championship. On the other hand Australia would like to win the series in India for the first time since 2004.

The Indian team has picked up lead at an early stage of the first innings. On one hand India got its first success through Mohammad Siraj as he dismissed Usman Khwaja on the first ball of the second over. After this, Mohammad Shami came to ball the next over. On his first delivery, he clean bowled David Warner and sent him back to pavilion.

The first Test match between India and Australia was played in 1947. Since then, 27 Test series have been played between the two teams, out of which India has won 10 while Australia has 12 series. Apart from this, 102 Test matches have been played between the two, out of which India has won 30 while Australia has won 43 matches. Out of these, 28 matches have been drawn. Australia has played a total of 14 Test series in India, out of which 8 have been won by India while 4 have gone to Kangaroos. Apart from this, 2 series have been drawn.
