As Indian women’s cricket team clashed against England in the one-off Test match at the D.Y Patil Stadium on December 14, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur got dismissed in bizarre fashion which had everyone in shock.
The 34-year-old was just a single away from her half century and tried to steal a run on the next delivery. However, her non-strike partner Yastika Bhatia didn’t seem to be interested in taking the run and while Harmanpreet had already made her way back inside the crease, her bat got stuck right before the edge of the crease and resulted in a wicket.

The England players had appealed for the dismissal which was eventually given out by the third umpire when the camera showed England wicketkeeper Amy Jones take off the bails before Harmanpreet could make it inside the crease.

Winning the toss, India elected to bat first and are trying to put up a good total in the first innings. Satheesh Shubha is currently the top scorer for India with 69 runs.
With the Indian team playing a Test cricket match after a long time, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur had said that in order to increase the level of women’s cricket in the country, they would have to bring a change themselves by putting up their best foot forward in the game.
The one-off Test match could prove to be influential in terms of the women’s cricket team getting more and more matches with Test playing nations
