The Indian cricket team has started their practice for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka under the new head coach, Gautam Gambhir, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The T20I squad has traveled from Pallekele to join the ODI team for this session. The BCCI shared a special video on social media showing the team working hard in their practice nets. The video begins with an enthusiastic Virat Kohli arriving on the field, wearing a helmet and carrying his bat.

Kohli launched the leg-spin deliveries out of the park during his practice session. Kuldeep Yadav and Shreyas Iyer bowled to Kohli and Rohit Sharma but struggled as both batters hit them hard. Despite the impressive batting performance from Rohit and Kohli, the standout moment was the reaction of Gautam Gambhir. The head coach, who was overseeing the practice, appeared thoroughly impressed by the powerful hitting from both players.

The 35-year-old batter also participated in fielding drills, while Kuldeep Yadav and Shreyas Iyer were seen improving their fielding skills. In addition to batting and fielding, Shreyas Iyer also tried his hand at bowling during the nets session.
India is set to play a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, starting from August 2 and running until August 7 in Colombo. Kohli and Rohit will return to India’s ODI squad after an eight-month absence. They had announced their retirement from T20Is following India’s T20 World Cup victory on June 29 in Barbados. This series will mark the first time these star players will participate in an ODI series under the new head coach.
