Fielding is a crucial aspect of cricket that can significantly influence the outcome of a match. Often, it is the fielding, rather than batting or bowling, that determines a team’s victory or defeat. Consequently, exceptional fielders are highly valued and appreciated. Remarkable fielding efforts captured on camera rarely go unnoticed, given the high standards of cricket today. Despite this, a catch taken by Durham‘s Englishman Paul Coughlin has garnered considerable attention, even prompting a reaction from England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes.
Ben Stokes even took to his social media to comments on the astonishing catch and wrote, ‘What the heck…Joke that’.
OH MY WORD!!!! PAUL COUGHLIN. 😮😮

Coughlin’s stunning catch occurred during a T20 Blast game off his own bowling. The right-arm pacer delivered a full toss, which the batter powerfully hit down the ground. In an attempt to protect himself, Coughlin instinctively placed his right hand in the ball’s path, and to everyone’s surprise, it stuck, resulting in the batter’s dismissal.
Meanwhile, Australia helped their arch-rivals England by defeating a determined Scotland by five wickets, causing the Richie Berrington-led team to crash out of the T20 World Cup Super Eight stage on Monday (IST).
Earlier in the day, England secured a dominant victory over Namibia in a rain-shortened match, leaving Jos Buttler’s side needing Australia to defeat Scotland to stay in contention. Australia chased down 181, reaching 186/5 in 19.4 overs, despite a resilient effort from Scotland to keep their tournament hopes alive.
