New Delhi: The second match of the three ODI series between Australia and England is being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground today. In this match, after winning the toss, Australia decided to bat first and set a target in front of England. Steve Smith’s innings of 94 runs played an important role in helping Australia reach this target. Smith played many shots in this innings and gave everyone a hint of his comeback, while a video of him is going viral in which he tries to play creative shots but fails.

Smith was trying something new

When Adil Rashid came to bowl in the 31st over, his second ball was a no-ball which granted him a free hit to the batting side. Smith was trying to play a reverse sweep. He tried to play shot which is often played by David Warner. However, Rashid was able to see this through and he dopped the ball a little farther away from him. Steve Smith was unable to hit the ball. Seeing this Smith started laughing and people appreciated Rashid’s presence of mind.

Labuschagne and Smith’s 101-run partnership

After winning the toss, the Australian team came out to bat first and lost the wickets of David Warner and Travis Head in the beginning. Following this Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne came to bat. They led the innings well by scoring a partnership of 101 runs.

Marnus scored 58 runs off 55 deliveries with 4 fours and a six. Meanwhile, Steve Smith scored a striking 94 runs off 114 deliveries with 5 fours and six. He missed the century mark by a mere 6 runs.

Adil Rashid knocked-off three wickets

After the dismissals of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh played an inning of 50 runs and took the team’s score forward. Adil Rashid took 3 wickets from England side and Chris Woakes took 2 wickets.
