After the Indian ‘Hitman’ Rohit Sharma’s retirement the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has also wrote to BCCI of his desire to quit Test cricket just before the England tour which started on June 20. A few days back Kohli reported his decision to BCCI and it is improbable to be available for the five-match test series in England. However, a senior BCCI employee talked to Virat Kohli, seeking his reconsideration of his decision. This crucial development is just before the selection of committee meeting to conclude the series of test in England, which shall also bring to attention of India the start of new cycle of world test championship. According to India today Devajit Saikia, Secretary of BCCI had said that the team for test Tour would be chosen within the last week of May itself.
Source’s Statement Regarding Virat Kohli’s Request
“He has made up his mind and has informed the board that he is moving on from Test cricket. The BCCI has urged him to rethink as the crucial England tour is coming up. He is yet to revert on the request,” a source was quoted as saying by Express sports.
Virat Kohli Hinted His Retirement
After Showcasing poor performance in the Australia tour Kohli’s shape tanked and once again his technical weakness against the moving ball was laid bare; with eight of his ten tour dismissals more incisive and caught in slip-cordon. There were questions raised about Kohli’s future in the test cricket, his inability to address a recurring question has become a talking point. Kohli had in fact directed the 2025 tour could be his last tour of Australia. When asked about what he would do after retirement, Kohli said that he would like to travel but had absolutely no idea what he would do after leaving the cricket.
“I might not have another Australia tour in me, so I am at peace with whatever happened in the past,” Virat Kohli said at the RCB Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit.
